The Waldo County Amateur Radio Association (WCARA) was organized in Belfast, Maine in 1978. While our membership is centered in Waldo County, the club is open to members regardless of where they live. WCARA exists to promote and support amateur radio and serve as a hub to the local ham community. We are active in public service, special events, and field day among other activities. Club members are happy to help out with projects such as preparing for license exams, setting up stations, and antenna projects. The club is dedicated to providing a group of operators trained in Amateur Emergency Radio Communications and willing to assist local communities in the event of an emergency or natural disaster.
